Our Independence Day

Our Independence Day

By Anglia Emmendorfer

You Felt My Pain

I Melt Into Yours.

We Are Burnt And Broken

But Oh So Loveable.

Our Whispers Echo In Triple Forte’

Wishes To Have Met

And Loved Long Ago.

Now, We See Shades Of Grey,

Blurred Lines Of Vision,

And Sound Without Decimals.

Love Was Not Grand Back Then;

Not Being Truly Grounded,

Not The Love Deserved,

Or Without Life Lessons To Polish

And Make It Shine In The End.

Now, We Love In Silence

Like Hidden Lovers

Dancing In Shadows

On Independence Day.

Fate Intertwines Two Souls;

A Leap of Faith.

You Dancing Backwards

Trusting Me To Lead

Forward To New Memories;

Our Waltz To Last Chance Destiny.

No Landing Gear

No Parachute To Soften Impact

Only A Sail, Stern And Bow

Lets The Wind Lift Us

And Grant Smooth Sailing;

Thousand Miles Away.

Happy Birthday America

4th of July

As Part Of The US Army Honor
Guard
I Know What It's Like To Stand In Formation
Heads High
Lifting That Flag Into The Sky
As Revelry Echoed Across The Land
Hand On Brow
Or Across The Heart
Proud To Be An American No More Or Less
That Flag Gave Me Strength And Courage To Conquer
And Hold Steady Through The Day And The Dark.

Standing In Formation Before The Dim Of Light
As TAPS Played
Arms Held Outward To Catch Her Coming Down That Pipe
Ready To Fold Her Into The Triangle She Deserved
Feeling Her Silk and The Imprints Of Fallen Soldiers In Every Line
Blood Shed Before My Time and In Lands Far Away
I Caressed Her And Thanked Her
Our Old Glory Always Comes Through
So I Had To Let Her Know
I Am Proud To Be An American Too
Over The Land She Sails So High
To Never Forget The Lives Given
At A Cost And Not In Vain
For Freedom Rings At Every Back Door
To Keep Us Safe, Sound And Free

We Are America The Beautiful......As Katherine Lee Bates Wrote in 1913 For You & Me:
American, The Beautiful
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion'd stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev'ry gain divine!

O Beautiful for
patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
