"Red White And Blue"
“The Red White and Blue”
By Anglia Emmendorfer
As I hang my head above you
I look down below to see
The hands that takes
Our innocent and brave
In battles too long
We will not back down
With love in their souls to be free.
As I look above me I see
A fighter jet in flight high in the sky
The contrails white as snow.
To fight for our homeland
In times of peace and woe.
As I look in front of me
I think of all the blood shed
For freedom and justice
So our land could be free instead.
Long before I was made,
We fought and died
For what we thought was right.
Leaving no doubt for soldiers
As you and me to make it through the night.
Pledges of women and men
Echo through the air
For what is wrong and what is right.
Directly at my image
Hand across their heart
Stares in their eyes
Blood beating with honor in their hearts.
Now, look how I flutter in the wind
Then go half mast in the end
We say we are Americans
We believe in this great land
We are the USA and willing to defend.
Who would have thought
I would fly across the seas
Across the dunes in the name of Lady Liberty
Yet, I face the battle
Marching and matching on
Through the streets
With hearts of gold on patrol
Their heads spanning the scene
Not knowing what’s ahead.
You look to me for dedication
Faith, Hope and Love
My Stripes of Red and White
With Stars placed just above.
I drape the lifeless memory
For those whom we loved.
Knowing they fought the battle
Laying out their lives
Being true blue to the Red White and Blue.
They bend me from end to end
For five stars to show.
Ending a day ending a life
Wherever I am needed; I must go
Sometimes in a widow’s hands.
I’ve been burned and stepped upon
You have seen me touch the
Sweet ground of Mother Earth.
Yet through all the flaws
You’ve seen it all.
You see me tough and steadfast
Greeting the morning sun.
No one goes unnoticed under the
Red White and Blue since
I stand up for America
As my land and yours too.
I represent the many that died
On our brave soil
Or for those who perished too
Fighting in foreign lands
Long before this war was due.
Foreign turf with laws unfair, rules
Beyond the truth.
Lands of winds, dust and sand
Knowing
not the friendly or foe
Some so young in youth
Onward they go.
I lift you up and keep you free
I am the reason for those
Who believe in freedom rings
Far and wide.
For the honor to have a choice
And to breathe our nation’s pride.
Forever I will be your badge of
Loyal courage and endless Strength.
Showing my colors
Can only be the truth.
I am your Old Glory
An American Flag
The Red, the White and the Blue.
